One of the biggest emotional problems that almost a lot of people experience is actually depression. There are many reasons and causes of depression. Some of those basic reasons are a chemical imbalance in your physical body. While others are surely triggered by some other issues. One of those issues we are going to look at is family issues.

Family issues are a very traumatic problem when they occur. This is mostly due to the very fact that family indeed is such an intimate if not the closest part of our lives. So when a problem within the family occurs it makes sense that it can cause problems like depression. This is one of the biggest reasons clients come see my in my depression counseling service. Because it is very essential to address any family problems the soonest possible time.

Depending on what the family problem is will eventually determine the correct course of action that is needed to fix the depression. For example, counseling is a great and perfect way to try and resolve the depression if it is caused by a marital problem. When I get families with relationship problems in my family counselor practice I always try to get them into a regular counseling session. It is within these sessions that we can address the depression aspect of it.

Now if the problem gets worse and the fighting starts to escalate where the marriage is now in trouble, then definitely serious counseling is highly needed. As a couples therapy practice what I try to do is try to have sessions with them. These sessions are purposefully designed to get to the root of the problem.

The main goal is basically to find out what is key factor causing the issues then dealing directly with it. Because a lot of times the root among the many issues are not fully understood. Well a good counseling session can help resolve this.

So as mentioned depression is a very powerful emotion strong enough that can be very harmful. And as mentioned in cases of family problems causing them, there are solutions.

Learning to deal with anger will require a person you can trust like our anger management San Diego counseling. Help for all your relationship problems can be found with family therapist San Diego.

With the ups and downs of life (not to mention the holidays!) come lots of emotions. One of them can be times of sadness which is perfectly normal, but when does sadness fall into depression?

Do you feel like you are depressed or are your friends saying you might be depressed? If so, you are not alone. Depression is a common problem but there is also a lot more help with depression than you may realize.

To begin, what is depression and how do you know if you have it? It is hard to say since it affects everyone differently. There are some basic similarities though. It can come on subtly or with an overwhelming trauma. It can even come on with a memory.

Since depression can come on slow, it can go by hidden to the one experiencing it. Due to the fact it is a slow evolution, some people may notice even though you may not. It is like a child who appears to be growing rapidly. Relatives who have not seen the child notice the growth immediately while the parents don’t see it as clearly. Because you see your depression everyday, it may be hard to believe you have it.

It can start with some anxiety, fear, hurt, or sadness and then move to seasons of sadness or “blue” feelings. Then it often gradually becomes real depression and can develop into severe major depression. Before you know it you’re not sleeping well, your eating habits are changing, you feel numb, you are gaining or losing weight, you are having trouble concentrating, you are avoiding certain people or events, and beginning to isolate yourself.

Things that you used to do at one time are no longer enjoyable. Easy jobs are avoided and simple things like opening the mail, answering phone calls or daily chores become monumental.

You may wonder if you are just sad or truly experiencing depression. Depression can be different for everyone but there are some similarities. 1. You are consistently sad, irritable and angry. 2. You can not laugh or have fun. Life seems dull and boring. 3. You feel like you don’t fit in and have nothing to offer. 4. You lose sleep or sleep all day. 5. You hurt and feel achy for no reason. 6. You cry a lot. 7. Your weight fluctuates one way or another. 8. Focusing on tasks is hard if not impossible. 9. You are hopeless and see no way out. 10. You want to escape. If you are thinking of hurting yourself or others or want to escape there are some things you can do to help yourself heal. If the thoughts are constant, you need to get help from someone as soon as possible. It may seem impossible, but fight those feelings of defeat and find a pastor or counselor who help people all the time in this capacity. They are trained to know what to say and will keep your conversations in the strictest confidentiality. Their professional opinion will help tremendously.

Talking to someone about your feelings of depression always helps. Talking to a counselor or a pastor can be the best step you can take to start feeling good again. Although it may seem like it is hopeless, it is not.

Start a journal. This is free and it has proven to be a great success. If you write your thought without holding anything back, you will be able to relieve a lot of those thoughts that seem to trap you. If you are afraid someone will read the journal, keep it in a safe place or throw away the writing after it is written. It is still beneficial to get your thoughts out on paper. What a lot of people who have experienced signs of depression say that it helped them see how their thoughts were and helped get them back on track. It helped them also love themselves again for who they were.

One way to help write down your thoughts is by writing down only one issue and then break the issue down into 4 parts.

To start, for example, describe the problem. I am angry with my husband because he is late for dinner.

Second, write about your thoughts of what happened. For example, “if he loved me he would not have been late.”

Third, write down things you are actually feeling. Your emotions of hurt, sadness, fear of abandonment, guilty, etc. Or write a sentence like, “I am angry because he acts like he doesn’t care about me as much as his career.”

Fourth, try to describe what action you are taking given the situation, your thoughts, and your emotions. For example, are you escaping, isolating, raging, throwing things, feeling sorry for yourself, blaming others for your misery, mad at someone or God, running away, avoiding the conflict, etc.? If you will write all this down, you will be amazed with how much insight and honesty you will be aware of.

Those that chose the path to end their lives yet failed were sharing how they became hopeful only after their thoughts were shared and they grew to understand the depression. They realized their feelings were temporary and easier to deal with.

You have heard that time heals, but time only heals if you are healing. If you are not healing, time just petrifies and hardens hearts and makes us self-defensive and over protective. Take a step and begin healing today and get ready for a happier and healthier life!

PS. If your depression has gotten to the point where you are having thoughts of ending your life, please call 911 and get some help immediately. Or call a counselor, who will know how to help.

Depression is among the most frequently reported medical conditions today and is projected to become the second leading cause of disability worldwide by 2020. It is estimated by some that roughly half the people who seek treatment for depression are not helped by psychotherapy and medication or withdraw from treatment too early. Even among those who recover, more than one third of them have a relapse within eighteen months. This suggests that alternative treatments for depression may be helpful for some who suffer from this disorder. Here are some of the ways in which depression can be managed naturally.

The family of B vitamins seems to play a significant role in helping to manage depression. Research suggests that people who have low levels of Vitamin B (folate) are more likely to be depressed than those who have normal levels. One group study looked at elderly people with low levels of this vitamin and who were depressed. They were given supplements of thiamin, riboflavin and vitamin B6 along with antidepressant medicine, and these individuals showed more improvement than those just taking antidepressants.

All the members of Vitamin B family are responsible for breaking down of carbohydrates and proteins. Vitamin B6 (also known as Pyridoxine) also helps to regulate enzymes, healthy skin and digestion system, production of blood cells and antibodies. It also maintains the hormonal balance in women, as well as being very important in regulating mood and behavior. A deficiency of Pyridoxine can lead to irritation and anxiety, insomnia and nervousness. Vitamin B6 supplements have been used to help women cope with post menopause depression and anxiety.

According to traditional Chinese medical theory, depression is a sign of specific organ energy being blocked and/or deficient. If this energy becomes depressed or deficient it can consume and damage the heart energy, which is the basis of the spirit. Some of the ways that depression is treated in Chinese medicine include herbal remedies, massage and acupuncture.

Since the early 1990s, studies have suggested that treating depression with acupuncture has a positive and holistic effect on depressed patients, particularly when combined with psychotherapy and herbal treatments. Acupuncture consists of fine needles inserted along various points in the body, with the purpose of stimulating the body’s flow of energy and functionality (known as “qi”). Though traditionally taught as a preventive form of health care, acupuncture has also been proven effective in the treatment of pain and chronic conditions.

Herbal treatments are another popular way to manage the symptoms of depression. For instance, Siberian ginseng is an herb that aids the balance of essential neurotransmitters like serotonin, nor epinephrine and dopamine in the brain. Taking it regularly can lead to improved feelings of general well-being.

While licorice has been known for a long time to be an effective herbal treatment for colds, recently recorded data have shown impressive results in the treatment of depression. Licorice is a natural anti-depressant which contains eight monoamine oxidase inhibitors. Licorice can be taken either as a capsule or drunk as a tea. However, if taken in too large a dose or over a lengthy period, there may be side effects like increased blood pressure, headaches and lethargy. Licorice should be supplemented with potassium capsules and increased water intake to offset the side effects, and should only be used on the advice of a licensed practitioner.

These are just some of the alternative forms of treatment that can be helpful in alleviating many of the symptoms of depression. As with anything, everyone will react to them in different ways. It is important to allow a trial period in order to feel the effects of the natural medications, as some will take several weeks to take effect. Always be sure to seek a doctor’s advice before you decide to stop taking a prescription medication, and avoid combining prescription medications with natural medications on your own.

Depression can have far reaching implications for those who suffer from it. It can negatively impact all aspects of a person’s life, from their job to their relationships. There are a number of ways of managing depression without medication. Find out more at Depression Help.

Anxiety and depression are said to be the causes of uncontrolled anger. When a person is continuously worried about problems they have no control over or even problems they do have control over, it often results in depression. If you have the feeling, there is no hope then your depression can affect your life and cause you to drift down into a spiral of despair.

Taking control of your emotions produces good results. If you feel that the world is tumbling down around you, then you are probably thinking in a negative way, which instigates depression and anxiety. In this short article, we will reveal some techniques to enable you to cope with anxiety and depression, thus relieving uncontrollable anger.

First of all, let us take a look at the symptoms. Do you feel as if you are going out of your head? Do you shout in your head: ‘I can’t take it any more?’. Do you feel like everyone is out to get you? Do you think people view you as mad? If you are undergoing any or all of these symptoms then you are probably suffering from some form of anxiety and depression.

If you can not find a way to think differently, then you will probably explode when your emotions soar and your anger bursts forth. Instead of telling yourself that you are out of your mind, why not tell yourself that you are temporarily emotionally disturbed and that you need to resolve the situation. Review all the problem areas carefully and search your memory to see if there are answers to your problems there. Reviewing like this, often opens doors to resources you may have overlooked.

If you feel like everyone is out to get you then you might have a chemical imbalance or a mental illness. Why not go to see your doctor or a mental health expert to learn more about the symptoms and find a way to regain control over your life. Anxiety and depression can play tricks with your mind and sometimes the thoughts are a result of a chemical imbalance.

If you think that people think you are going crazy, you might care to remember that most people have their own problems and don’t have time to analyze you as a person. When you walk into a room and think that people are staring at you, you might want to remember that all people observe the things around them, checking to make sure that everything is OK around themselves before returning to their own lives.

If you feel that you cannot take it any longer, just bite your lip and buckle down to it. When times are difficult, it doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world, although sometimes it may seem like it. If you are struggling to pay bills, fighting to hold a family together, or having difficulty with your children then remember that we all have these problems at some time or another in our lives.

Are your kids driving you nuts? If they are, take a break. Go and do something entertaining or some exercise. This very often relieves the stresses that lead to anxiety, depression and anger. Life is just too short to worry about the things in life that you cannot change. If you have problems, the answers lie within you, so it pays to look into your head.

If you are really struggling to reach your goals then you might want to break them down into smaller more realistic segments and work patiently to achieve them. If you set goals that are within reason, you will not need to get stressed finding a way to achieve your target.

It is important to pamper yourself each day. Learn some coping responses that will benefit both your mind and your body. If you feel overwhelmed, you might want to inhale and exhale for 10 counts.

Curling up on a couch to watch your favourite film can benefit your mind and body, if you want to let your mind relax. Learn to focus on what you are doing instead of fretting about what you are not doing. This often clears the mind and allows you to relax.

If you are subject to sustained anger, you will most probably have difficulties for the rest of your life unless you start to take control of your emotions. Remember that depression leads to uncontrollable anger.

One of the most curious questions is that if the amount of daylight in the morning can have an effect on the mood for the whole day or not. The realistic answer to this query is, yes it does affect your mood for the whole day. As can be witnessed, in winters you often feel low on energy during the day; this phenomenon is commonly known as “winter blues”. During winters, getting out of the bed in the morning is a very tough job, and all day through, you feel depressed and low.

This condition is generally termed as Seasonal Affective Disorder, or the SAD syndrome, which occurs due to the lack of exposure to light. When you wake up in the early hours of the morning, it is still dark outside that gives you a general feeling of gloominess, lingering on for the whole day, if not exposed to enough light. This happens mostly in winters, because days are shorter, and when your day starts, it is still dark at that time, which leaves its affects on you.

Why do we feel happy when the day is sunny? It is the noise of the birds in the morning, and the sound of the daily hustle and bustle of everyone, rushing to their destinations, that make the day a whole lot cheerful. Complains of having trouble in getting out of the bed in the morning is comparatively less in summers.

Many medical studies have confirmed that the amount of exposure to the sunlight affects the mood of a person, which may cause SAD. This means the more the exposure to the light, the merrier the mood would be, and vice versa.

The day in the winters starts when it is still dark, and you leave for office/college/school in the same dark hours of the day. There are some chances of getting some sunlight during the lunch hours, which is usually just an hour; but even then, you get so stuck up with the work at times that you miss this opportunity as well. Therefore, when you are off from work and are heading towards home, it is dark again, and you have missed out the chances of getting some sunlight.

In order to find the remedy, there are a couple of suggestions. If you are really down in the dumps, a little light therapy may be very beneficial for you. This is how you can go about making the start of your day; a much brighter prospect. Use full spectrum light therapy, as it duplicates natural sunlight. It has been used extensively to treat SAD syndrome with positive results.

Light boxes and visors are also helpful along with body clocks – these work by using the natural reaction of your body towards sunrise, and sunset, in order to help synchronise your awake/sleep routine. Every morning, the light comes on very gradually, just like a normal sunrise, so that your body responds to the slowly increasing amount of light around you, subconsciously.

The options mentioned above can be very expensive for some people, so you can use more lamps and tube lights to brighten up your surroundings. Another thing that can be done is to keep one or two lights on before going to bed. The idea behind this is to provide exposure to you to more light that you miss during the day.

Rosana Horowitz is an health expert. She is helping people in getting out of depression and she has recommended many products like lumie to get-up on time. You can use it for time management. For more details visit http://www.bodykind.com.

Dysthymic Disorder is similar to ‘normal’ depression. The main difference is that it’s not as severe. One big difference is that this condition lasts over two years before it’s diagnosed. Low energy levels and changes in sleeping habits are also symptoms. Another is a victim’s general feelings of low self-worth.

These four categories of symptoms are also associated with the disease:

1) Changes in the way people think – Difficulty in focusing on something for long and making decisions. This goes with their tendency to also have short term memory loss.

2) Emotional changes – Many people report feeling depressed about things that they used to love. Once even-tempered persons now become short-tempered and irritable. Feelings of helplessness and hopelessness dominate their emotional being.

3) Turn into a hermit of sorts – Become anti-social, avoiding people that they used to talk with frequently. They may stay indoors and overeat or may not eat enough. Besides losing their sex drive, many people slowly stop taking care of their personal hygiene.

4) Physical changes – Despite spending more hours sleeping, people will be constantly run-down and tired. Most can’t fall asleep and if they do, can’t sleep soundly. Laying awake for hours, when they do fall asleep they’ll wake up throughout the night. A minority of dysthymic disorder afflicted people will sleep many hours – apparently soundly – only to awaken feeling more tired than when they went to sleep.

How To Treat Dysthymic Disorder

It turns out that treatment with standard anti-depression methods work very well for this disease, which should come as no surprise since it IS a form of depression. But most people improve with a combination of psychiatric counseling and prescription medications, which parallels traditional depression treatment methods.

Personality disorders like this are best treated with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which is recognized by the medical societies. CBT is becoming the psychiatric treatment of choice. Since people tend to over-react to problems in their lives, cognitive behavior therapy helps them separate which problems are truly big and which are inconsequential. Problems will definitely come up in everyone’s life; CBT allows a person to recognize if the problem is worth his concern or not.

And lastly, therapy is needed to address the high-stress parts of a person’s life that are contributing to his or her depression. Interpersonal relationship conflicts are treated with interpersonal therapy, while the behavioral therapy addresses a person’s ability to cope with life’s stresses.

Seasons are essential for the survival of the ecology of the planet; it not only affects our routines and dressing, but also affects minuscule things in our environment. The affects is very pronounced not only on the plant kingdom, but also on the animal kingdom, especially on our own species.

Sleep is an important part of our daily routine, as it gives our body the required break from the work we do. Sleep is a personal preference in the sense that the time we sleep depends upon every person, and differs from one to another; some may need a lot of sleep to be alert enough to perform their routine work on the other hand, there are people who can mange with a few hours sleep only.

Seasons affect many aspects of the human body. They affect our diet, and the kinds of foods that we eat. They even affect moods, and can determine our happiness, or sadness. In the same way, it affects how human beings sleep, and wake up, and what kind of habits they acquire in different seasons.

It has been found that the magnetic field of earth changes with the change in season, and further, this field controls our secretion of pineal gland, which is called melatonin. This particular secretion controls our circadian rhythms, which manage the sleeping cycle in the body, or the biological clock. This clock determines the time we need to rest, and when.

Apart from the magnetic field changes, the changes in amount of sunlight, and the weather brought upon with seasonal changes also affect our sleeping patterns. Light is one of the major factors that affect our sleeping and waking patterns.

In the winter seasons, there is a lesser amount of sunlight, and the days are shorter. The sun rises later in the morning, which makes us sleep for longer. Most of us are accustomed to wake up to the bright sunlight in the morning. In the winters, the sun rises later, and so we wake up late along with it. Similarly, in the summers, the days are longer and the sun rises early in the morning. The bright sunlight early on in the morning makes us wake up earlier too.

Our moods also get affected by the seasonal changes, which as a result affect our sleeping habits too. For instance, summers is full of warmth, joy, and energy, if you are in a good mood, you do not need lots of sleep to be fresh again, thus in summers, sleep requirement is not much. However, in winters, the season is gloomy and cold; one does not feel very lively, and energy is required to keep oneself warm, this puts us off, making us sleep more, thus going to bed early, and getting up late in morning.

For their assistance, professional help is available, which is usually done through therapies.

Rosana Horowitz is an health expert. She is helping people in getting out of depression and she has recommended many products like lumie bodyclock to get-up on time. You can use it for time management. For more details visit http://www.bodykind.com.

One of the most difficult emotions to deal with is dealing with depression. Because everyone goes through depression at different times in life, it is definitely difficult. But the depression we are talking about having a hard time dealing with is the serious depression. It is actually called clinical depression sometimes. That is the one that is hard to know if it is serious enough to need counseling. In this article we are going to search and discuss for all possible signs that you need depression counseling.

First of all as mentioned earlier everyone has bouts of depression from time to time. But there are some events that rigger a person that goes too far. Sometimes something very emotional makes it hard for a person to overcome depression. Emotional events like a death of someone so dear like a relative can actually trigger this type of depression. I see this a lot as a depression counselor. When a person feels like it is their fault, this usually occurs.

Now some causes of depression are as expected, not always the same for almost everyone. Something that doesn’t affect one person can really cause another one depression.

Sometimes though it can be a chemical reaction within the body. This type of depression usually has to be dealt with using drugs. There are times that I have to prescribe some sort of medication running a family therapist practice. Sometimes if the depression is not from some event in life that is the only solution, but I hate to do that.

Then there are some kind or type of depression that absolutely comes from problems or issues from within the family of course. Sometimes a married couple might start having a hard time getting along. This surely causes or triggers a rough time in their marriage. I see this type of depression a lot doing couples counseling. If the couple is willing enough to try to work things out, then this type or kind of depression can actually be overcome.

Depression is absolutely a serious emotion that really needs to be addressed as you can definitely see. Hopefully, this will be able to assist you to certainly know when a person or individual requires to seek counseling from a pro.

Outbursts of uncontrollable anger can be treated by services like our anger management San Diego services. We also deal with many more issues with our family therapist Solana Beach service.

Stress is in fact an inseparable companion in our life. Still, we react to it in different ways. Some of us learn how to not let it get to them, others close themselves from not only the stress but also other influences and emotions, while many other are very vulnerable to even smallest causes of stress. Still, there are many methods to get rid of the stress, but to follow them and become happy and healthy, you must first know which type of personality you have to know how you can deal with the problem.

Stress has many faces. It may be caused by the problems at work or at home, by lack of money, old debts, problems with health and many other situations. For each type of stress we react differently, depending on our personality and principles. Still, one thing is obvious: when you let the stress control you, the situation always gets worse.

Although we all want to live stress-free life, sometimes we can’t avoid it. Still, high levels of continuous stress can be disastrous to ourselves and end in depression, health risks, craziness and hospitalization. This is why it is necessary to learn how to reduce the amount of stress we are exposed to as long as we want to be happy and healthy people. While there are many methods how to get rid of stress, one of the most efficient is positive thinking. When we don’t have a negative attitude to our lives and we do not worry about too many things at the same time, we are much more resistant to stress and thus can live better life.

When you want to fight with the stress, remember that too much pride can cause your failure. It is much better to get some help from friends that to do everything alone, just to not show your weakness. Remember that when you are stressed and can’t solve your problems, it doesn’t mean that you are weak. It means only that your life has got complicated far beyond your capabilities to fix it.

As you can see, stress can really change your life for worse. Mood swings, health problems, lost friends, divorce, depression and even suicidal attempts – all can be caused by too much stress. What’s more, uncontrolled stress tends to increase, small difficulties which appear in our everyday life become to big for you and you fall into a trap of a vicious circle, which is very hard to break. This is why it is extremely important to learn how to stop stress when you can still handle it, not when the pressure is too high and paralyzes you.

Simple tasks become hard to do. Like, opening the mail, bill paying, or answering the phone. Here are some signs of depression that you may recognize.

First, what does depression feel like? It is hard to pinpoint the feelings of depression because many people experience it differently. Some basic similarities are: 1. You are experiencing feelings of consistent irritability, sadness or anger. 2. Nothing seems interesting or fun anymore. 3. You feel bad about yourself feeling worthless, guilty and “wrong” or you don’t fit in. 4. Your sleeping habits are all messed up. You sleep too much or not enough. 5. You have a lot of unexplained headaches or other physical problems. 6. You cry easily. 7. Your weight is different. You are either losing or gaining without any effort. 8. Your concentration is poor and your work habits are poor. 9. You are helpless and hopeless and your general outlook on life is negative. 10. You may be thinking about death or suicide or some way to escape. Second, if you have thoughts of suicide or have a tendency to want to escape, what do you do with those thoughts and what answers are there if you are feeling them? Sometimes these thoughts can be scary and overwhelming. If you feel you are thinking in this way, and do not see any solutions you should get help right away. When in this state of emotions it is hard to talk to others, but it is well worth it to reach out to a pastor or counselor in your area to talk through your thoughts and feelings and to get a professional, objective opinion and help!

When you talk to someone that is sworn to silence it can help make you feel better and relieve the tension that comes with the depression. Even though it seems there are no answers, there are.

Many will write down one issue that is bothering them and then taking that one issue and breaking it down into four categories.

To start, for example, describe the problem. I am angry with my husband because he is late for dinner.

Second, write about your thoughts of what happened. For example, “if he loved me he would not have been late.”

Third, write down what emotions you are feeling from this situation: fear, hurt, sadness, lonely, guilt, shame, etc. Or maybe it is easier to identify with one of the following messages: “I feel inadequate, unloved, unappreciated, like I don’t matter, I am defective, unlovable, worthless, embarrassed,” etc.

Finally, explain on paper the path you are choosing to act out. For example, I am choosing to isolate myself because it makes me feel better about myself. The honesty in which you do this will unveil a heart you can view and start to heal.
